Or maybe you don’t feel educated enough, rich enough, or speak well enough. You might think that based on your past sins or lifestyle that you don’t have much to offer. Presenting your bodies means we all have something to offer and we must offer our allįourth, we all have something to offer and we must offer our all. You are a solider in God’s army and you need to report in for duty. It’s like the soldier reporting for duty. The same is true about the body of Christ when you chose not to present yourself to God. Your body can still live and function without some parts, but it doesn’t function in the same way. The same for the rest of the parts of your body. When the eyes don’t work, seeing is more difficult, or you don’t see at all. Your brain, lungs, heart, hands – every part has a purpose and a function. The Church is often referred to as “the body of Christ.” In verse 4 of Romans 12, Paul says that we are all one body, but many parts. So there is the idea of presenting our hands to serve others, our mouth to speak the Words God puts in our hearts, and our feet to go where He calls us go. Paul expands on these ideas in Romans 13-15. As His representative, we then present ourselves to the body of Christ (the Church) to serve in the areas God calls us to serve. Third, presenting ourselves to God means become representatives of Christ. I am Yours.” Presenting your bodies makes you a representative of Christ Presenting ourselves to God means giving Him our problems, our hopes, our dreams, our relationships, our careers, and every other part of our lives. It is a total surrender of our will to His. Second, we can’t pick and choose the parts of our lives to place in God’s hands. Presenting your bodies is an “all in” thing For us to present ourselves to God, we must voluntarily bring ourselves to God and place ourselves in His hands. If a present you with a casserole, I voluntarily bring it to you and place it in your hands. Instead, He gently calls us by name and the response is ours. God doesn’t pull a puppet string or “zap” us with divine power that forces our feet to bring us into His presence. The first thing to point out about presenting ourselves to God, is that it is a voluntary act. Digging deeper into “ Present your bodies“ Presenting your bodies is voluntary But how do we – sinners – present ourselves to a holy God and what is a living sacrifice? These are the two truths from God’s Word that we are digging deeper into today. Digging Deeper: What is Our first responseĭigging deeper into Romans 12:1, we learn that our first response should be that we present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice. Yesterday, we discovered that in Chapter 12 begins a new section of Paul’s letter to the Roman church and he is imploring them with a sense of urgency that to respond to God’s great mercy and how we should live in response to Christ’s atoning sacrifice of His life as He paid our sin debt for us. Today we digging deeper into the phrase, “that you present your bodies a living sacrifice.” Recap: I beseech you,, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodiesĪ living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. The verse says: Make it personalīegin by reading the verse again but personalize it as Paul is writing to you: As we are digging deeper, begin with praying that the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom, to open your ears to hear Him speak to you, and to soften your heart so you can apply what He reveals to you. This week we are digging deeper into our memory verse – Romans 12:1Įach day will will focus on just one part of the verse.
